Skiing Success in Folgarida: Year 9 Hit The Slopes

23rd April 2025

During the first week of the Easter holidays, twenty nine students and three teachers embarked on a skiing adventure in Folgarida in the Italian Alps. Despite getting to the hotel very late in the evening, everyone was ready to take an early morning cable car to the ski runs the next morning. After being fitted with boots and skis, the students were split into three groups, according to skiing experience, and headed for either the nursery slopes or the more challenging blue and red runs. After two hours of skiing, everyone was ready for lunch before heading out to the pistes again for the afternoon. After the day’s skiing, everyone took the cable car back down the mountain to Folgarida for a few hours of free time before it was time for dinner. Every evening there was a group activity, such as quiz night, karaoke, or a student version of Taskmaster.

Over the course of the week, everyone’s skiing improved so that by Friday afternoon, the beginners were confidently dealing with blue runs, the intermediates were working on parallel turns and carving on the red runs, and the advanced group were skiing the difficult black runs. It seemed like no time at all before we were returning the equipment and getting ready for the journey home.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time in Italy, and it’s a trip that always contains plenty of laughter, smiles, and memories. Thank you to our instructors for making the week so enjoyable
