On Tuesday 2nd June, St John’s Hall was filled with a sense of immense pride and excitement as our Year 5 Stretch and Challenge Club hosted their project exhibition. Pupils proudly presented their tremendous independent research projects to an audience of delighted families, friends and teachers.
The exhibition marked the culmination of ten weeks of intense curiosity, deep exploration, and dedicated hard work. Since March, these pupils have embraced the wonderful opportunity to step beyond the standard curriculum, choosing a specific subject that captured their imagination to delve deeper into its complexities. The sheer diversity of the topics on display was a testament to their wide-ranging interests, with projects exploring everything from the vastness of the solar system, evolution, and the history of rugby, to the explosive mechanics of volcanoes and the intricate layers of the Earth.
Driven entirely by their own curiosity, the pupils began their journey by formulating sophisticated, open-ended questions to guide their research. Pushing their boundaries, they then produced and presented their findings in a fantastic variety of creative formats. Working collaboratively in teams, the pupils didn’t just learn about their chosen subjects, they also honed vital life skills. Throughout the ten-week process, they demonstrated exceptional resilience, sharp problem-solving abilities, effective time management, and excellent organisational talents.
A massive well done to every single pupil who took part. They should be incredibly proud of their journey, from that very first spark of an idea in week one to the spectacular, polished outcomes they showcased at the finish line.
