Our Joyful Christmas Celebrations

18th December 2024

Throughout the final days of term, our students have been embracing the festive spirit. Junior and senior students have been busy with Christmas activities, including carols, Christmas concerts, Christmas jumper day, nativity plays, and indulging in a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Over in juniors, our festive highlights included our Year 3 and 4 Christmas production, which truly got us all  in the holiday spirit. The performance was filled with Christmas carols, and moments for everyone  to get involved. Our Under 9’s choir also delivered wonderful performances. A huge thank you to all our talented students for their dedication in learning songs and lines — your hard work truly shone.

The ever-popular Reindeer Run was another highlight, with junior students raising money for our charity of the year, Wakefield Hospice by taking part in a fun four-reindeer relay, complete with antlers and big smiles. In addition to the excitement, students from year 3 and 4 took time to reflect on the past year and share their hopes for the future. Inspired by their thoughts, they created beautiful handmade Christmas decorations, which were proudly hung on our giant Christmas tree at the school entrance for all to admire. Our PE department wrapped up the term with some festive tournaments full of Christmas cheer! They worked in aptly named teams. Such as Robins team , Reindeer team and team snowman. In a range of races and also competing in a run to raise money for Wakefield Hospice! A big congratulations to team Robins for winning all three matches and to all students who took part in the run for charity.

Over at the senior section, students have also been enjoying festive  activities. Year 10 students from Food and Nutrition developed  some very important key skills for  this time of year.in a butchery workshop, led by Mr Kirwan , our Holroyd Howe general catering manager. All the students really enjoyed their time in this workshop and learnt some valuable culinary skills.

The House Christmas Massaoke returned for another year and the roof of Jubilee Hall nearly lifted as Houses competed with each other singing Christmas carols in an effort to decide which House had the best vocals and which House were the loudest. Congratulations goes to our joint winners, Clayton and Blakey! It was a fabulous way to come together ahead of a wonderfully festive Christmas dinner in  Christmas jumpers. As a special tradition, junior students ‘surprised’ the kitchen staff with a performance of Christmas songs, thanking them for their hard work and wishing them a Merry Christmas. Our chefs also had a festive surprise in store for students, selecting a winning jumper to celebrate the season.

What a fantastic way to wrap up the term and spread the Christmas cheer throughout our school community!

Our Christmas celebrations were topped off with The Revue – throughout this term our wonderful Senior Prefect team has been working hard to put together an amazing last day of term production  which was better than ever filled with hilarious sketches , musical performances and an impressive storyline which amused us all.  What a great way to end the term – thank you all and we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year! 🎄
