Our recent Winter Sports assembly was a wonderful celebration of the dedication, talent, and achievements of our Key Stage 3 athletes at Wakefield Girls’! We were thrilled to recognise the remarkable contributions of our hockey, netball, and cross-country stars.

Cross Country Triumph:

Our cross-country runners showcased their resilience and determination in numerous competitions, including our highly anticipated inter-house event. Special congratulations to Millie K, Felicity T, Felix C, and Izzy K, who already hold Junior Colours, and to Rosa L, Hannah A, Pippa K, Eva C, and Isabella W, who were newly awarded them!

Netball Success:

Our netball teams have demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the season. The Rebecca Cholewa/Kirsty MacDonald Cup for progress in netball was deservedly awarded to Eva C, while the U12 Netball Players’ Player was shared by Pippa K and Rosa L. The Joanna Garthwaite Trophy for commitment and potential at junior level went to Seren S. The U13 Netball Players’ Player Cup was awarded to Seren S and Ellie G, and the Middle School Netball Cup for excellence on court went to Amy H. The U14 Netball Players’ Player Cup was awarded to Sophie S.

Junior Colours were awarded to Beth C, Eleanor M, Seren S, Tabs T, Felix C, Jess G, Eliza K, Olohi, Fi L, Amy H, Charlotte E, Stefanie H, Sophie S, Georgia N, Millie B, Winter B, Leyla S, Dulcie C, and Heidi S.

Hockey Highlights:

Our outdoor hockey teams displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship. The Ruth Metcalfe IV Lower Hockey Cup and the U12 Hockey Players’ Player Cup were both awarded to Daisy M. The Under 13 Hockey Shield was shared by Sofia B and Jess E, while the U13 Hockey Players’ Player Cup went to Jess E. The Gail Calvert Trophy for consistently good play in the Under 14 team was awarded to Charlotte E, and the U14 Hockey Players’ Player Cup went to Heidi S.

Junior Colours were awarded to Georgia N, Winter B, Dulcie C, Poppy C, Elizabeth O, Eva J, Laila W, Heidi S, Sophie E, Kate K, Phoebe H, Chloe E, Sophie S, Sofia B, Jess E, Felix C, and Lexie J T.

In indoor hockey, Junior Colours were awarded to Heidi S, Eva J, Charlotte E, Jess E, Sofia B, Felix C, Eliza K, Ananyah K, Felicity T, and Alex M.

The PE Department would like to extend a huge thank you to all the girls in Years 7-9 who participated in midweek fixtures and weekend fixtures. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and eagerly anticipate building on this success in the upcoming season. Congratulations to all our outstanding athletes.
