On Saturday 3rd February, the U16 Netball Squad played in the regional round for the National Schools competition at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. They competed against the top schools from the Yorkshire and Humberside region for a place at the National Finals.
Prior to this tournament, the students trained very hard and were as best prepared as possible! To get a place at the National Finals for netball, however, they had to perform under tournament conditions where they played 7 short matches across the whole day and in essence, had to win every single game. No other sport determines their national finalists based on such short games so the pressure was on!
We are delighted to announce that the squad won every single game and are Regional Champions. They now progress to National finals at Oundle School in Northamptonshire on 16th March 2024 where they will compete amongst the top 18 teams in the country.
The squad is made up of seven Year 11 students and three Year 10 students:
Congratulations to all of the squad for their brilliant preparation and performance, and keep up the hard work – we can’t wait to see how they fare next month!
