On Tuesday 5th December, the festive spirit poured out of Wakefield Girls’ and into Wakefield Cathedral with two Christmas performances.
Our A-level music students began with a lunchtime concert open to the general public, a fantastic and appreciated opportunity to play to a large audience. Live performance is an important aspect of the A-Level Music course, and plays a key part of examined work so we love opportunities to develop confidence and experiences with live performance. Details of the performances are below.
Following on, our whole school filled Wakefield Cathedral for our much anticipated Carol Service. Thank you to The Reverend Canon Dr Philip Hobday for his welcome of us all. Our choirs and congregation united to sing Walking in the Air featuring year 7 soloist Lydia Hill, Joy to the World, The First Nowell, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen featuring soloist Sara Omer, O Come, All Ye Faithful and Merry Christmas Everybody amongst prayers, readings, poetry and performances from our choirs and Clarentella.
Our Carol Service was live streamed – thank you to everyone who joined us from wherever you were. Thank you to all for kind donations in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire.
