Our U11 Choir perform with the Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir at Wakefield Cathedral

9th December 2024

On Saturday 7th December our Under 11 Choir braved the gale force winds to take part in a fabulous concert as guest choir to the Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir in Wakefield Cathedral. The concert has become an annual part of our Choir’s calendar and always proves to be a festive occasion.

We were delighted that Poppy and Isabel were invited to sing the first verse of Once in Royal David’s City as a duet, which they sang beautifully. Our first half pieces were reflective and the choir sang the harmony parts with real panache, our quintet who sang the eerie descant in the Night Watchers: Isabel, Poppy, Rose, Libby and Jasmine were complimented by Jane Hobson, conductor of the Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir. We loved joining in with the gent’s rendition of Schnee Schnee, complete with actions, this has certainly become a firm tradition. Our second half songs were highly energetic, and having donned their festive headgear our Under 11s sang with such joy and energy.

Well done to all involved, and thank you to parents who braved the wind and rain to support this event.
