Last Friday, the U10 and U11 Swim Squads travelled to GSAL to compete in the ESSA Relay Qualifiers.  

We entered mixed U10 and U11 A and B Teams for both 4 x 25 Medley Relays and Freestyle Relays.  The teams faced a variety of schools from around the North East Region in an enthralling display of skill and sportsmanship. Despite the challenging competition, Wakefield Girls’ swimmers exhibited exceptional teamwork and determination!  The relay ‘swim of the day’ was awarded to the Medley Relay A Team (Harriet, Evie, Luisa and Priyah), who missed out on a bronze medal by less than a second!  

There were several outstanding individual performances which did not go unnoticed. Congratulations to Harriet (Year 5) and Luisa (Year 6), who distinguished themselves in the pool, earning the well-deserved recognition as WGHS Swimmers of the Gala. Unfortunately, we did not have any teams qualify for the National Finals this year.
