Alicia Collinson WOW Assembly

21st February 2024

On Wednesday, February 21st, we had the pleasure of hosting alumna Alicia Collinson at Wakefield Girls’ Junior Section to speak at our WOW Assembly. Currently a Senior Associate at Thrive Law in Leeds, Alicia spoke to students about her journey from studying at Wakefield Girls’ to becoming a lawyer.

Alicia graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2015 with a law degree and completed her LPC at the University of Law in Leeds. In particular, Alicia is passionate about equality in the workplace and female representation in the legal industry, so encouraged all of our Junior students to believe in themselves and their abilities, reassuring them that the legal profession is welcome to everybody.

During her assembly to our Junior students Alicia emphasised the importance of self-belief, hard work and perseverance in achieving goals. Her message resonated with our young students, who were inspired to follow their dreams and overcome obstacles. Alicia discussed her experience of developing self awareness and the value in prioritising self-care. She also highlighted the importance of developing resilience early on in life to help navigate everyday challenges that arise whether in school or beyond.

We are grateful to Alicia for taking the time to visit and share her insights with our students.  We hope that Alicia’s words will continue to inspire our students as they navigate their own educational and professional paths.

Thank you once again Alicia for your valuable contribution to our WOW Assembly. We look forward to welcoming more alumnae back to Wakefield Girls’ in the future to share their experiences and expertise with our students.
