Wimbledon Trip
24th July 2023
On Thursday 6th July, a group of our junior and senior students were lucky enough to visit the Wimbledon Championships for a day packed with excitement.
On arrival, lunch was consumed on Murray Mound whilst watching streamed play of a match on Court 12. A tour around the outside courts resulted in one of our girls being gifted a tennis ball from a player’s guest!
Watching the play close up was truly inspirational and we enjoyed joining the many heads moving in unison following the ball from one side of the court to the other. Our Court 1 tickets treated us to a close match between Zverev and Brouwner (Zverev was victorious).
A trip to the Wimbledon shop was long awaited – the selection of merchandise was overwhelming with some great purchases made!
Returning to Court 1 to be inspired by Vekic’s sheer determination against Stephens was our final match of the day, before leaving via the practice courts.
We had the most incredible day at Wimbledon. Here are some words from the girls and a few of their favourite moments:
Ellie: ‘ I loved watching the tennis on the outside courts, the players were very impressive’
Maddie: ‘ I had such a wonderful day and would love to go again!’
Beth: ‘ I enjoyed watching the players warm up for their matches’
Fiona: ‘I will always remember this day – it was amazing’
Seren: ‘I will never forget this day and all of the wonderful memories I have made’
Sophia: ‘My favourite part of the day was when I went to watch the men’s tennis on Court 1. Seeing the game happen in real life was amazing. This was one of the best days ever’
Tilly: ‘ My favourite part was watching the women play – they were such an inspiration to me and I hope to visit Wimbledon again in the future’
Pippa: ‘My favourite part was clapping with the crowd when a player challenged a call – some of the decisions were very close!’
