An Evening with Pat Langham

10th November 2025
Jubilee Hall was full of smiling faces as we welcomed back former Headmistress, Mrs Pat Langham, for a truly spectacular and memorable evening in Jubilee Hall.

Pat Langham, guided the school with distinction from 1987 to 2009,  and remains an inspiring and much-loved figure in our Wakefield Girls’ School community. For 22 years, she was more than just a Headmistress; she served as an incredible role model and mentor to both pupils and staff, and her lasting influence is still deeply felt today.

Pat  brought her usual infectious energy and life back to Jubilee Hall. The atmosphere was filled with her brilliant wit, non-stop laughter, and many wonderful stories. The highlight of the evening was a lively Q&A session, with a keenly engaged audience made up of many staff members and Old Girls, all eager to catch up and share memories.

It was clear that everyone truly enjoyed themselves, making it a warm and nostalgic evening.

We extend a huge thank you to Pat for sharing her time, energy, and memories with us, and also to Mr Eggleston for his role in ensuring the event was such a resounding success. The evening was a wonderful reminder of the strong, inspiring bonds that connect our past with our present.

In her own words, Pat once said that the success of a school should be measured:

By the people

By the pride taken in doing one’s best

By the sense of community

By the courtesy and consideration of all you encounter

By the smiles in the corridors

And by the sure knowledge that being part of WGHS is something very special indeed — and lasts a lifetime.
