Year 5 Explore Signs and Symbolism at Wakefield Cathedral

12th November 2025

It is always a pleasure to visit the magnificent Wakefield Cathedral, and this week provided an exceptional learning opportunity for our Year 5 pupils.

As part of their Religious Education curriculum, Year 5 has been focusing on Christian signs and symbolism. The bespoke workshop allowed our pupils to go beyond the usual sights and develop a more inquisitive eye for significant representations of Christianity within the Cathedral walls.

The trip successfully brought their classroom learning to life, enabling them to explore the Cathedral’s rich religious history and understand how symbols act as a fundamental part of Christian beliefs and practices. This was a highly valuable and memorable day of learning and exploration.
