Pupils from all of our Drama exam classes recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit Hull Truck Theatre to see a lively performance of Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
This inventive production was a burst of humour, music, and energy from start to finish. The cast brought familiar characters to life in fresh and surprising ways, expertly balancing laugh-out-loud moments with genuinely heartfelt emotion.
Our pupils were particularly struck by how relevant the classic story felt, even when reimagined for the modern stage. The performance successfully explored themes of love, independence, and social expectations in a way that truly speaks to audiences today.
It was an inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable evening, providing a brilliant chance for our pupils to experience a classic text and see how it can be adapted for contemporary theatre. We hope this performance sparks some fresh ideas for their own future work!
