We bid farewell to our exceptional Modern Language Assistants, Linda, Claudio, and Mickael, who have enriched our school community during their time with us. Their presence has been a tremendous asset, particularly within the Languages Department, where they have brought their vibrant cultures to life for our students.
Claudio from Tenerife, Linda from Bremen, and Mickael from Paris have gone above and beyond in sharing their linguistic and cultural knowledge. Through engaging culture clubs, focused small group sessions, and invaluable one-on-one conversations, they have inspired and supported our students, especially those in Years 9 to 13.
Their impact has been felt across the school, from leading engaging Spanish sessions with our younger Junior section students to supporting the Cultural Charity Bake Sale and even coaching our A-Level students in debate. They quickly became integral members of our school community, and their dedication and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by both staff and students alike.
A huge thank you to Claudio, Linda, and Mickael for their hard work, their willingness to share their experiences, and the positive influence they have had on our students. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavors.
Claudio, Tenerife:
Having the opportunity to work with the WGHS and QEGS teams has been a wonderful experience. In the past few months as a Spanish assistant, I have had the opportunity to become part of the school community by taking part in language clubs, working with Sixth Form students, with Junior School pupils, and with the rest of the secondary school students. Having had the opportunity to share part of my culture with them and for them to share theirs with me has been truly interesting and an enriching experience. As for my colleagues, I can only highlight their efforts to make us feel at home and to support us throughout our stay in England. To finish, I would like to say that I will take with me many of the experiences I have gained here, both professional and personal.
I hope I have been able to spark an interest in Spanish among the students, ¡muchas gracias a todos!
Linda, Bremen:
“I want to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff and students for the wonderful and valuable experience I had at WGSF over the past six months as a German Assistant. I gained new perspectives on language teaching and challenged myself by leading a language club and preparing tailored lessons. I especially enjoyed the opportunities to share aspects of my city, Bremen, and German Christmas and Easter traditions with the students, witnessing their interest and curiosity in my language and culture. One of my most memorable moments was attending and supporting the Year 12 students in their language competition. I will take this experience back to Germany, hoping to initiate similar projects in my own school. Thank you all so much.”
Mickael, Paris:
“Working at WGSF was truly amazing! I loved the experience and the teachers I had the pleasure of meeting and working with. The teaching methods were highly interesting and beneficial. This six-month placement has been incredibly enriching and inspiring. I particularly enjoyed working with the Year 12 and Year 13 students, who were exceptional and lovely. I also fondly remember the younger students (Years 9-11) who were so amazing and eager to learn French. The teachers were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my time here. I want to thank every teacher who supported me and worked alongside me – it was truly fantastic. It was a pleasure to share an authentic glimpse of French culture with the students, and I hope I have sparked their interest in learning French in the future. Merci tout le monde!”
