The Association for Language Learning (ALL) Wakefield Network celebrated a successful launch, bringing together language educators from across Yorkshire to collaborate on curriculum development and best practices in language teaching.
Hosted at Wakefield Girls’ High School and accessible via Google Meet, the event provided a dynamic platform for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teachers, Subject/Curriculum Leads and Heads of Departments/Faculties to engage in discussions on “The Promotion of Languages through Curriculum Design.”
The session kicked off with a getting-to-know-you activity, fostering connections among participants. Attendees then worked through a series of key topics, including:
✅ Collaborative Curriculum Planning – Exploring strategies for designing engaging and effective language curricula.
✅ OUP Publisher Input: The New GCSE – Insights into upcoming GCSE language changes and resources.
✅ Languagenut Input: Purposeful T&L – Practical approaches to purposeful teaching and learning.
✅ Identifying Common Needs and Priorities – Establishing shared goals to shape future network activities.
Claudia Donau-Green, Head of Languages at Wakefield Girls’ High School and ALL Network Wakefield Lead, highlighted the significance of such initiatives:
“This network offers a fantastic opportunity for MFL teachers to collaborate, share expertise, and drive innovation in language education. We’re excited to build on this momentum.”
The event’s success marks a strong beginning for the ALL Wakefield Network, with future sessions set to continue supporting language teachers in curriculum design, professional development, and resource-sharing.
