Future Mathematicians Inspired at Cambridge Girls in Maths Day

3rd February 2025
Students from Year 11 had the exciting opportunity to participate in a special event at St John’s College, Cambridge. Girls in Maths Day was specifically designed for Year 11 girls who are interested in pursuing Mathematics or Mathematical Sciences at prestigious universities. This event allowed budding mathematicians to explore challenging mathematical concepts that would support their studies and enhance their university applications.

The day commenced with the intriguing question, “Why is Maths so powerful?” Following this, students engaged in an interactive taster lesson on differentiation and its real-life applications. They also heard inspiring talks from former College students about their career journeys, enjoyed a guided tour of the College, and participated in a Q&A session about the application process and what studying at Cambridge is truly like.
