As part of our Well-Being Week, Year 3 students from Wakefield Girls’ and QEGS participated in a heart warming ‘Well-Being and Me’ session led by Mrs. Agus, a dedicated NHS professional and one of our supportive parents. Her engaging workshop focused on exploring well-being and the keys to personal happiness.
The session kicked off with an exciting activity where students crafted their own ‘well-being shields,’ a creative tool designed to symbolise protection and a sense of safety. Each student decorated their shield with elements that bring them happiness. Mrs. Agus shared her own example, featuring family, relaxing bubble baths, dogs, and artistic hobbies. The children then eagerly contributed their ideas, including drawing, running, ice hockey, skating, and football.
The workshop also included meaningful discussions on the importance of random acts of kindness and the benefits of mindfulness. The highlight was a calming rainbow meditation exercise. Students were guided to breathe deeply, inhaling relaxation and exhaling any worries. They visualised a vibrant rainbow, taking time to appreciate its colours and the positive emotions they evoke.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Agus for her generosity and expertise in leading this inspiring session. Her workshop not only provided valuable tools for well-being but also left our Year 3 students feeling uplifted and more in tune with their own happiness.
As part of our well-being week, our Year 3 junior students at Wakefield Girls’ and QEGS came together for a ‘well-being and me’ session facilitated by one of our parents, Mrs. Agus. Mrs. Agus, who is employed by the NHS, generously offered her time for this initiative. The workshop concentrated on the concepts of well-being and happiness.
The first task involved the creation of personal well-being shields, which are part of their ‘wellness toolkit.’ The shields symbolise protection and a sense of safety. Each shield was to incorporate elements that contribute to individual happiness. Mrs. Agus provided an example of her shield, which featured her family, soothing bubble baths, dogs, and creative pursuits. Students shared various ideas, including drawing, running, ice hockey, skating and football.
Additionally, the session included discussions on random acts of kindness and mindfulness activities aimed at fostering calmness. Participants engaged in a rainbow meditation exercise, focusing on inhaling relaxation and exhaling tension or worry. Pupils were encouraged to visualise a vibrant rainbow, appreciating all its colours and the feelings associated with them.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Agus for her willingness to lead this enlightening workshop.
