Road safety education for children is crucial to instil the knowledge and skills needed to navigate roads safely. That is why on Friday 8th March we were thrilled to welcome representatives from Wakefield Council who visited the Junior Section and delivered informative workshops on road safety to Year 3 – Year 5 Wakefield Girls’ students and their QEGS counterparts.
The aim of the workshops was to raise awareness of the various dangers and to encourage greater caution on and around roads.
The topics covered in the workshops for each year group were:
Empowering children with road safety knowledge at a young age supports them as they gain more independence and freedom. It equips them with the necessary skills to navigate roads responsibly and to make safer decisions as pedestrians, passengers, and cyclists.
