Year 3 had an incredible time at their residential in York. Day one saw our young archaeologists carefully uncovering “hidden treasures” at Jorvik’s Dig, carefully discovering past artefacts from 2000 years of York’s history. Then diving into Viking lore with captivating stories. They even dressed up as Vikings while listening to traditional stories, deepening their knowledge and truly embracing the spirit of the era.
Day two took them to Danelaw Viking Village, where hands-on learning was the order of the day. They ground wheat, crafted cresset lamps, and defended against a “Saxon invasion,” gaining a real taste of Viking life. The day culminated with immersive storytelling around the fire, bringing history to life. It’s safe to say this trip created unforgettable learning experiences for our Year 3 students!
