U16 and U19 Netball success in the England Netball National Schools Regional Competition

3rd February 2025

What a weekend for Wakefield Girls’ High School! Our U16 and U19 netball squads delivered outstanding performances at the England Netball National Schools Regional Competition at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield—securing their places in the National Finals!

On Saturday, our unstoppable U16 squad dominated the competition, finishing the day undefeated! Co-Captains Ella M and Annabel M led with skill and determination, guiding their team to victory against some of the region’s toughest opponents. Their reward? Yorkshire & Humberside Champions! 🏅

Sunday saw our U19 squad take to the court in a fiercely competitive tournament. With Captain Lillie W at the helm and Co-Captain Maddy D by her side, the team showcased immense talent, resilience, and teamwork to finish as runners-up—securing their place at Nationals!

This achievement is nothing short of exceptional. Wakefield Girls’ is the only school in the region with TWO squads progressing to the England Netball National Schools Finals! Now, the hard work continues as both teams prepare to take on the best in the country this March.

Congratulations to our phenomenal players, coaches, and supporters—you have made us incredibly proud! 💙
