UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge

29th January 2025

This week, students in Years 9-11 have been participating in the prestigious UK Maths Trust Intermediate Maths Challenge. This challenging competition provides a stimulating opportunity for students to test their mathematical abilities, encouraging them to think critically, reason logically, and apply their knowledge in novel ways.

The test features 25 multiple-choice questions designed to be both accessible and thought-provoking, catering to students of all abilities. While the challenge is enjoyable for all participants, it offers valuable benefits for our highest-achieving students by providing a platform to tackle more complex problems and stretch their mathematical horizons.

Participating in the UKMT Maths Challenge not only boosts student confidence in tackling unfamiliar mathematical challenges but also provides valuable recognition. Students who excel in the challenge are awarded Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificates, which can be included on their CVs and in future job applications to demonstrate their strong mathematical reasoning skills.

We applaud all Year 9-11 students for their participation in this challenging competition. We eagerly await the results and celebrate their dedication to developing their mathematical prowess.
