Year 6 Embark on an Outdoor Lesson to Perfect Their Skills in the Owls Den!

15th January 2025

Year 6 ventured to Owls Den, where outdoor education became an engaging hands-on experience! From mastering map reading and tracking to building fires and learning wilderness survival tricks, the students were fully immersed in the great outdoors.

One of the highlights was that they were challenged to create their very own animal rafts from various materials and then put their creations to the test, seeing if they could float! Talk about an exciting way to learn about teamwork and problem-solving!

At Wakefield Girls’, we believe in the power of outdoor learning. Our Outdoor Education programme is all about equipping students with practical skills and life lessons that go beyond the classroom. Through activities like orienteering, survival techniques, and team challenges, our students not only grow their knowledge but also develop resilience, collaboration, negotiation and risk-taking abilities. It’s about more than just fun—it’s about setting them up for future success, both in and out of the classroom.

Here’s to more adventures and more learning in the wild!
