During October Half term, our KS4 and 5 students boarded a plane to the beautiful historic city of Rome where they indulged in all the wonderful sights and sounds of this classic city. They kicked off their trip with a visit to the world famous colosseum where they admired the ancient architecture and learnt more about the history of this amazing landscape in preparation for further study back in school.
Students had a wonderful time visiting Palatine Hill ,where they had the chance to learn more about this historic landmark. Palatine Hill is a well known Roman landscape and sits not far from the Colosseum. The students loved the vast ruins and buildings and enjoyed visiting the accompanying Palatine museum where they had the chance to consolidate their knowledge and develop their understanding at Palatine Hill. They also visited various other famous Roman sites and hidden gems associated with GCSE and A-Level Classical Civilisation courses such as Palazzo Massimo , Capitoline Museum, The Roman Forum , Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. The Sistine Chapel and the Ara Pacis which was a particular highlight for our GCSE Classics students.
This year’s trip to Rome was a success and was enjoyed by both the students and staff. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather, visit some amazing landmarks and also discovered some amazing sights and enjoyed delicious local cuisine in the peaceful and serene city of Rome.
