On Wednesday 5th June, 24 students from Year 4 competed in an Under 9 athletics event against Sheffield High School. The event took place at the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation track in sunny but breezy conditions.

Each student competed in a Field event of either long jump or throwing the rounders ball, a Track event of either 50 metres, 400 metres or 600 metres and a 4 x 50 metre relay.

Stand out performances came from Lacey and Lillia in the long jump, Meera and Tilly in the rounders ball, Ami, Avi, Martha and Betsy in the 50 metre sprint, Thea in the 400 metres and Isla in the 600 metres. Congratulations also go to Team 1, Team 4 and Team 6 in the relays.

A big well done to Thea and Meera who were excellent athletics captains for the afternoon and worthy ambassadors for our school.
