The Wakefield Girls’ Equestrian team has had two busy weekends of qualifiers at Northallerton EC. Well done to all riders who took part. Congratulations to Tilly who has qualified for the championships at Hickstead in the 105cm Arena Eventing class and to Jess who has qualified for the Championships at Addington in the 100cm Jumping with Style class.
Here is a Equestrian report by Team Captain Tilly S:
On Sunday 25th February, two of our riders, Tilly S and Florence S, headed to Northallerton for their Hickstead arena eventing competition. Florence was first to compete, where spooky conditions unfortunately resulted in three refusals, leading to elimination in the 85cm class. Tilly then headed into the 105cm class, where, despite a hold up on course due to a jump being left down, her and her horse Manny finished on 4 faults, finishing 3rd to qualify for Hickstead in May.
Here is a Equestrian report from Team Captain Isobel W:
On Monday 4th March Isobel W, Tilly S and Jess B headed to Northallerton for arena eventing JwS. Isobel started off the day in the 80cm just having the last fence (planks) down, with a good style score of 5 leaving them in 15th/34. Isobel also started the team off in the 90cm having a pole in the showjumping and the same planks down! With a style score of 7.50. Jess then jumped a fab clear with a style score of 7.50 leaving her 5th in the section. Tilly then finished the team off just having those annoying planks down again with a style score of 7.00! This left the team in 3rd just out of the qualifying placings. Jess then jumped another fab clear in the 100 with a style score of 4.00 and coming 2nd qualifying them for the championships at Addington. Tilly and her horse had a miscommunication in the 100 resulting in a run out but overall an educational experience for them both. Especially well done to Jess for qualifying for the champs!
