U11 Choir Perform with Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir

11th December 2023

On Saturday 9th December, our brilliant Under 11 Choir visited Wakefield Cathedral for another spectacular performance – this time as guest choir to the award-winning Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir in their Christmas Concert.

The event was in support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

The concert started with Once in Royal David’s City and one of our choristers, Emie, had the privilege of singing the first verse solo.

The students performed a lovely selection of Christmas music: in the first half singing the haunting Carol of the Snow, before performing A La Media Noce which as the title suggests involves singing in Spanish! They finished their opening set with one of their favourites: Must Be Santa!

In the second half, they started with a fun song: Skatin’ and Sledgin’ which our student’s sang with great energy, followed with a whistle stop tour through as many carols as possible in Christmas in 90 Seconds!

The concert culminated with a beautiful arrangement of Away in A Manger where our Under 11 Choir joined forces with the Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir. This Christmas concert has become a regular event in our performing calendar and is always a highly festive occasion. Thank you to all of our lovely audience members for supporting this event and raising money for such a worthwhile cause.
