Celebrating Year 9’s Philanthropic Efforts

28th September 2023

On Thursday 21st September, we were delighted to welcome Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) to Wakefield Girls’ to thank Year 9 students for their support over the last academic year.

Our Year 9 students, then in Year 8 participated in a ‘Charity afternoon’, including a sponsored fancy dress 1km fun run, a general knowledge quiz, dancing and party drinks, a chocolate game, and silly races. In total, the students’ efforts gaining sponsors enabled them to raise an incredible £914 for YAA charity.

Our students had chosen to raise money for YAA, after they were visited by the team during PHSE lessons and learnt about all of the vital work they do providing emergency transportation and lifesaving support to people across Yorkshire.

YAA presented a cheque to our Year 9 students for the much needed funds they raised.

We are extremely proud of Year 9 for their philanthropic efforts and we know they are keen to continue their fundraising over the next academic year.
