Foundation Charity Fayre 2023

6th July 2023

On Wednesday 5th July, both Wakefield Girls and QEGS students were elated for the return of the Foundation Charity Fayre! After pausing the event for several years due to COVID-19, we were delighted to announce to the school community that this much-loved event would be making its return.

Students from Wakefield Girls’ and QEGS in Years 5 – 12 all came together at our Games Field, to socialise, celebrate reaching the end of the academic year, and of course, to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust and Cancer Research UK.

Year 9 and Year 10 students ran stalls throughout the afternoon as a way to raise money for our chosen charities. The stalls included Henna tattoos, Glitter Tattoos, Face Painting, Pic n Mix, Guess the Sweets in a Jar, an Obstacle Course, Water Balloon Toss, Splat the Teacher, Tin Can Alley and a Doughnuts Stall!

Also returning this year were the highly-anticipated 5-a-side football game, with students in Years 7-10 at both Wakefield Girls’ and QEGS forming teams and competing to win and be crowned WGSF football champions. There was also a ‘Hang Tough’ game where participants had to try and hang onto a pull-up bar for as long as possible, with students showing impressive perseverance as they hung onto the bar for over two minutes!

There were also plenty of delicious food and drink stalls attending the event, including Bubble tea, Ice bar, Ice-cream, and Candy Floss to name a few.

As always, Foundation Charity Fayre was a wonderful afternoon, and we would like to thank all students and staff for attending and being so enthusiastic. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
