Armed Forces Careers Event

19th June 2023

This afternoon we hosted our ‘May the Force Be With You’ Careers event, where we welcomed representatives from the Armed Forces – serving officers from the Army, Royal Air Force, Navy and the Police, to speak with students about career opportunities within the forces.

The careers fair was open for Year 9 and 10 students to discover more about these fields, what they do and the services they provide for our country. The representatives informed students about the world-class training provided and opportunities funded by the Forces.

It was especially great to welcome alumna Flt Lt Aamna Warsi (OG, 2016) back to school, to speak to students about her experience joining the RAF. Aamna was involved with the Air cadets throughout her time studying in school, but when she left Wakefield Girls’ in 2016, she went to university to study Medicine. After graduating she then pursued a career in the RAF as a Foundation Doctor.

We hope this afternoon broadened our students’ minds to all the different career opportunities available within the forces. It was enlightening hearing all of the different questions students asked in relation to the Armed Forces.
