Life as a Friendship Buddy in Juniors

22nd March 2023

By HAVIISHA, ANAYAH, MADDIE, EMILIA, ROSE and KABISHA, Junior Friendship Buddies

Being part of our Juniors, you’re part of a very friendly community. As soon as you arrive, you are introduced to an immediate friend that guarantees that you are never alone in what can be a very overwhelming time. Everyone belongs – and this can be a huge help if you’re a bit nervous, worried, want to extend your friendship group or when your friends are busy doing other things !

What is a Friendship Buddy?

Friendship Buddies are a community of Junior students from all four of our Houses. It doesn’t matter which House you are in, Friendship Buddies are always there to meet up, play games or have a chat with. We always watch out for anyone who looks like they need a friendly face – if someone is upset, has a problem or if their other friends are just busy elsewhere, we are there. We also act as hosts to visitors to school.  In our special leadership position, we are people who help to foster friendships and have fun.

Why did I choose to be a Friendship Buddy?

I love being part of our small community  – I definitely feel like I belong.  Personally, I like to help others and I was very pleased to be elected as a Friendship Buddy.  To me, it means I can play a part in quickly helping everyone in school, for example if they are struggling with something, want to make new friends or want to join different groups involved in different activities.   It’s a big responsibility and it makes me happy to make a difference. I like welcoming people. Here, you can easily know everybody in your year, as well as meet others in the years above and below!

Being a Friendship Buddy has also helped me to make more friendships.

Why Juniors is so great!

As we are all so close, it is really easy to spend time with different friends and get involved in a variety of different activities.

My favourite thing about Juniors is how many opportunities we have to come together and enjoy ourselves together. Most recently, we had our ‘Danceathon’. This was a fun dance session involving everyone, a lot of energy, and a whole lot of wearing our House colours!

However, the fun happens every day in the playground!

How do you get involved?

Every term, you’ll hear from your Form Teacher when there is to be a class vote to elect Friendship Buddies.  I would recommend going for it.
