Young Musician of the Year

15th March 2023

This morning marked the final of the Junior Inter House Young Musician of the Year 2023, and it was a spectacular event.

The competition has been underway for the past couple of weeks, with class concert heats where over 250 performances by Year 3 to Year 6 students were showcased.  The final featured the very best young musicians from our Junior Section, competing in the Under 9 and the Under 11 categories. The atmosphere was electric, and the performances were nothing short of extraordinary.

There were performances in a variety of categories, including piano, vocals, wind, string, brass, and percussion.  The U9 final was conducted first, with students from Year 3 and 4 attending St. John’s Hall during their first two periods. We were enthralled by their performances. The Under 11 category was equally impressive, with the students showcasing their musical talents with flair and precision. The finalists have practised tirelessly to hone their performances, and it showed.

Mr Meredith, senior section Music Teacher acted as final judge.  The musical talent was incredible and every participant deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication. Well done to all of the students who competed in the Young Musicians Concert!

Special congratulations to the winners on their outstanding performances.
