New Junior Head and Deputy Girls!

21st February 2023

On Friday 10th February, the Head of School Ms Boyes and Director of the Junior Section Mr Rowley announced the new Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl for the rest of the academic year.

Voting by staff and students in Year 6 led to a shortlist of 5 candidates, who were then interviewed by the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl of the whole school. This was an exciting, albeit nerve-wracking experience for Year 6 students as they met with older students in the Senior Section and experienced what an interview would be like in the ‘real world’. The candidates were asked questions pertaining to why they wanted to take on the role and what they thought would make them a good Head Girl or Deputy Head Girl.

We are so delighted to announce that Anniyah and Felix were chosen for the role of Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl, and they will remain in these roles for the rest of the academic year. Their jobs will include helping with school speeches, helping staff with any events or open days, and providing support to their peers if they come to them with an issue.

Speaking to the students following the announcement, they were both extremely excited and had a lot to say!

Anniyah said that it was ‘an honour to be chosen for the position of Head Girl’, explaining that her roles in drama and musical school performances have helped her to grow in confidence and become comfortable with public-speaking.  Anniyah is looking forward to using her organisation skills kindly,  to listen and help fellow students.

Felix is looking forward to the ‘great opportunity’ the role brings, developing independence through responsibilities.  Further, she stated that she ‘wanted to do the job to be helpful, to help teachers and students, especially younger people’. Felix is excited to  ‘talk to students’,  ensuring ‘they have someone to listen to them if they ever need to talk’ and to attend meetings with the staff and help with tasks.

We are very proud of Anniyah and Felix for how they handled the interview process and we are sure they will make a great Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl!
