Artists Community Project

23rd November 2022

On 23 November, the Art department took our Year 12 A-Level artists to the recently closed Wakefield Cathedral kitchen. Working with artist Johnsey and members of  ArtHouse Wakefield, we contributed to a special community project to produce artwork to go on display in the kitchens for future community projects and the public to enjoy.

Thank you to Johnsey and ArtHouse members – we enjoyed getting more acquainted with your work and projects.  Becoming aware of the different needs of the wider community is a very important part of life at Wakefield Girls’, helping students to understand how they can respond actively to these needs with their different gifts.

The work was fun, expressive and based on mark making on a huge scale. We are excited to see the finished piece soon!
