Othello Theatre Trip

20th October 2022
Exam students from the GCSE and A Level Drama course from Years 10-13 took a trip last night to see renowned theatre company Frantic Assembly’s version of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello. Visiting the York Theatre Royal, this production takes this classic tale of jealousy, racism and sexism and transposes it to a modern West Yorkshire pub.

Featuring dance music and their famous inventive physical theatre style, the show had enormous energy and captured the muscularity of the text and the emotional impact of the beauty and decimation of Othello and Desdemona’s love.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed this theatrical experience and will now reflect on what they have seen in order to write about it for their exam.
