Jenny Cocker, Director of Finance and Operations

” I am excited to be joining the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation as its next Director of Finance and Operations. I’d like to start by thanking Laurence Perry for his guidance during our handover and for his dedication to the Foundation over the past 17 years.

My past experience has been in helping organisations to run as effectively as they can, navigate change and growth, and build and support high functioning teams. Specifically, my work has focused on strategic planning, financial resilience, organisational governance, and resource management. My goal is to ensure that the Foundation is a well managed, appropriately resourced, adaptable organisation that is able to support the nurturing, well rounded learning experience rightly expected by our pupils and parents.

I grew up in Newcastle and moved to Sheffield for a law degree at the University. I met my husband Simon in Sheffield, and have lived there since. I have two boys, Tom and Jack, who are now both at University.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks at the Foundation. Many people have talked about the Foundation as a family and that has been very evident. I feel very fortunate to have been welcomed so openly and warmly and look forward to getting to know you all. “
