Wakefield Girls’ celebrated Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on 7th June.
At Her Majesty’s request a Silver Birch tree was planted by Headteacher, Heidi-Jayne Boyes assisted by the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl of the school, the President and Vice President of our Student Union and junior students.
Students and staff came together and gathered in The Quad over an extended lunch period to celebrate in true British style with the national anthem and a picnic lunch. Everyone royally enjoyed themselves !
Head Girl, Hooriya, shares her reflections:
Two world wars,
Fourteen prime ministers
A financial crisis
A global pandemic
The discovery of DNA
The first man on the moon
The invention of the Internet
Despite all these incredible changes, challenges and discoveries, there has been one constant. Therefore the Queen to me is an example of continuity, resilience and determination.
