It’s the way drama is taught AT EVERY STAGE of school life at Wakefield Girls’.
Wakefield Girls’ is where acting talent finds a voice. Our vibrant and creative drama department offers opportunities for students of all ages to perform, direct, design and stage manage productions. In addition to timetabled lessons, Music Theatre Showcase runs every Wednesday afternoon as part of our EDGE programme and a range of drama clubs encourage students to improvise and let their imaginations run free.
Wakefield Grammar School Foundation’s senior students performed an outstanding production of Guys and Dolls towards the end of February half-term in the QE Hall. This classic musical, set in 1950s New York, explores love and redemption through colorful characters and iconic songs. The production features students from across the foundation, promising a vibrant evening of song and dance.
Every year, an array of productions take place in our purpose- built drama studio and halls and many students love to take part. Through these performances, they learn to express themselves clearly and confidently while building friendships through shared acting experiences. In Year 6, Juniors have the opportunity to perform in a much-anticipated production just before they transition to Seniors. Our annual production enables a large number of students to hone their performance, direction, design, sound, lighting and stage management skills.
