Meet our new Junior Section Head Girl Team

4th September 2025

We’re thrilled to announce our new Junior Section Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl, Tilly and Meera. They have both worked exceptionally hard and are eager to get started in their new roles. The team will work closely with Mr. Rowley, teaching staff, and their fellow pupils to help with the daily running of the school and to ensure all pupils have a voice. These leadership roles allow our pupils to take on responsibility and be able to set an example for their fellow peers.

Head Girl Tilly and Deputy Head Girl Meera caught up with us to share a little more about themselves and what they hope to achieve as part of the Head Girl Team.

Why did you want to become part of the Head Girl Team?

Tilly: I wanted to be head girl because I thought it would be an amazing opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I also wanted to make year 6 a year I would remember in years to come and becoming head girl has made my year.

Meera: I wanted to become HG/DHG because I finally felt that I could take on a big responsibility. I also wanted to give new ideas to help the new school improve and also help the fellow pupils achieve what they want.

What characteristics do you think help you best with this role?

Tilly: I think the fact that I’m kind, helpful and gave everything 100% with a massive smile on my face. I am also a very hard worker and I love to play with different people in the playground everyday.

Meera: Kindness is of real importance in this role and I’ve shown it many ways. Responsibility is important and I have taken on roles like eco-monitor and librarian. Politeness is something that I have that is used on an everyday basis and will help generally with this role.

Is there something you would like to change to make it better for your fellow pupils?

Tilly: We could ask our fellow classmates and pupils in the lower years and ask how they think school life is going but also ask if there is anything they would like to change about the school.

Meera: Maybe, we could ask the pupils for their own opinions, maybe we could have more student voice activities? We could have a Science Fair, just for the Junior School where we split into groups and perform a science experiment, possibly with the help of an adult?

What are you looking forward to most in your new role?

Tilly: In this academic year I’m looking forward to helping my teachers and year group as much as I can. In addition to that I’m looking forward to learning more about the new school (Queen Elizabeth’s School, Wakefield) and being a part of those discussions.

Meera: I am looking forward to giving new ideas to the school, working with other pupils (e.g. QEGS head boys), helping people achieve what they want/need and most of all working as a pair with the head girl.
