Friday marked a significant milestone in the journey of our Year 13 students as they celebrated their last day in school before embarking on study leave for their A-Levels. The day was filled with heartfelt moments of reflection, friendship, and well-wishes.
The day started with a moving leavers’ assembly. Our Year 13 students shared touching messages with each year group, a highlight was a particularly lovely message from Mrs Rees towards the end of the assembly. To commemorate the occasion, Mrs Tingle presented each student with a special leavers’ bag filled with treats, including the cherished WGHS Bear and their Old Girls’ pin badge, symbolising their lifelong connection to our school community. Later in the day a nostalgic atmosphere filled the hall as the students opened letters they had penned to their future selves back in Year 7, revealing their hopes and aspirations from six years ago!
The celebrations continued as Year 13 were welcomed back into Jubilee Hall for their leavers’ lunch. It was a pleasure to see them sharing this time with their form tutors, subject teachers, and many other members of staff who have supported them throughout their time at Wakefield Girls’. A special thank you to Holroyd Howe for providing a truly fabulous spread, with a delicious array of options ranging from classic hot dogs and burgers to sweet waffles, ensuring a memorable lunch filled with laughter and togetherness.
Mr Murtland, Head of Sixth Form wished all of Year 13 the very best and said: Whether they have been with us for two years, or fifteen, our 2025 Leavers should be proud of everything they have achieved as Wakefield Girls. They have been a pleasure to work with and support, and we wish them all the best in their exams and beyond.
As our Year 13 students now turn their focus to their upcoming A-Level exams, we extend our warmest wishes for every success. They have worked so hard, supported one another, and we are sure the class of 2025 will continue to shine brightly in all that they do. The entire Wakefield Girls’ community is incredibly proud of their achievements and looks forward to seeing all that they will accomplish in the future.
