On Tuesday, 5th December, the festive cheer of Wakefield Girls’ overflowed into Wakefield Cathedral during two enchanting Christmas performances.
The day began with a lunchtime concert featuring our talented A-Level Music students, open to the general public. This invaluable opportunity to perform for a large audience is an essential part of their A-Level course, allowing students to develop confidence and refine their live performance skills. You can read more about this here.
Later, the Cathedral was filled with joy as the entire school gathered for our Carol Service. With a warm welcome from The Reverend Canon Dr. Kathryn Goldsmith, the service featured heartfelt performances, prayers, readings, poetry, and carols, including:
🎤 Walking in the Air (Year 8 soloist, Elizabeth)
🎤 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (Year 11 soloist, Amelia)
🎤 O’Holy Night (Year 13 soloist, Isobel)
🎵 Joy to the World
🎵 The First Nowell
🎵 Rockin’ Robin
Our choirs, created a magical atmosphere. The service was live-streamed, and we thank all who joined us virtually. Special thanks go to everyone who donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, supporting their lifesaving emergency service across Yorkshire.
A huge congratulations to all our students for their dedication and brilliant performances, and heartfelt thanks to our audience for their support and applause throughout.
