U11 & U10 Cricket Vs Hill House

25th June 2024

What a busy day for Wakefield Grammar School Foundation! On Friday 21st June, Wakefield Girls’ Senior Section Sports Day was being held on the athletics track and Junior Section played a cricket fixture Vs Hill House at home. Additionally, QEGS had a cricket fixture vs Birkdale, also played at home. All staff across the Foundation pulled together to make each event a success.

Our U10 and 11 cricket squads knew it was going to be a tough fixture as Hill House School had convincingly beaten us last year. We hoped to be more competitive this year as cricket has been a ‘major’ sport for us this year.

There were some excellent batting and fielding skills demonstrated by all students who worked hard to put the skills into action that they have been working on over the past few weeks.

All matches were competitive but our astute fielding and powerful striking saw us win the U10 B match with both ‘A’ team games being narrowly lost. A much more competitive fixture where our improvement was impressive.

Results:

U10 A Lost by 6 runs (282-288) Player of Match – Anaya P

U10 B Won by 43 runs (316-273) Player of Match – Layla T

U11 A Lost by 14 runs (243-257) Player of Match – Megan K
