Year 12 UCAS Convention

6th March 2024

At Wakefield Girls’, we prepare students early to reflect, think and plan for their next steps and future ambitions. Through our Pathways to Success programme, students are exposed to a vast multitude of further education and career opportunities available to them.

An important aspect of this preparation is attending external events. Hence, on Tuesday 5th March our Year 12 students attended the UCAS Discovery Convention in Manchester. Featuring stalls from 140 universities and a range of apprenticeship providers from Dyson to the BBC, this was the perfect opportunity for students to help further thinking about their future aspirations.

During the convention students had the opportunity to:

  • Engage in conversations with universities and colleges regarding course offerings and university life.
  • Interact with employers and apprenticeship providers to gain insights into the nature of apprenticeships and the available options.
  • Seek guidance from qualified careers advisors regarding their future paths.
  • Attend talks delivered by experts in their respective fields.
  • Connect with UCAS experts for personalised support in exploring their options.
