This morning we were delighted to welcome alumna Sadie Pridham (OG, 2019) back to school to deliver an assembly to students. Sadie recounted her experience of studying at Wakefield Girls’ including fond memories of Latin lessons with Mrs Richards and her parrot Ernie, and engrossing history lessons with Mr A Shaw. 

Sadie joined us as part of our ongoing lectures, started on International Women’s Day, discussing Women in Finance. 

Sadie joined Deloitte as a Tax Analyst in 2022 following her graduation from Kings College University with a degree in Classics. She discussed with students the importance of studying subjects which are passions and how not having a maths background was not a barrier to working in finance, as employers recruit and train intelligent and hard-working individuals.   We all enjoyed hearing how much Sadie loves her current job helping clients and often uses her various languages.

To conclude, Sadie shared advice that she would give to her sixteen year old self: don’t underestimate the difficulty of what you are doing right now. If you are finding your current studies challenging, don’t worry – this is normal! Importantly, she advised students not to compare themselves and reassured each that ‘your moment will come’ – you will find a subject, a topic, a career that you will thrive in. 

Once again, thank you to Sadie for coming back to school to deliver this inspiring talk. Sadie is the eldest of three Pridham daughters who all attended Wakefield Girls’. Sister Naomi, a Senior Prefect, proudly watched with their parents as Sadie delivered her assembly.
