Foundation Charity Fayre and our House Fest!

3rd July 2025

Wakefield Girls’ was alive with energy and excitement yesterday, as students came together for the annual Foundation Charity Fayre and House Fest. The day was a vibrant showcase of teamwork, healthy competition, and community spirit, all while raising vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The morning kicked off with a series of engaging house challenges designed to test students’ problem-solving abilities and collaborative skills. From intricate puzzles to strategic games, students demonstrated their ingenuity and worked together to earn points for their respective houses.

After a lively morning, a refreshing break with ice lollies and music provided a perfect opportunity for students to unwind before the much-anticipated Tug of War Championship. The atmosphere was electric as houses battled it out with incredible determination, creating a truly exhilarating highlight of the day. Following the intense competition, a delicious BBQ lunch offered a chance to refuel before the big reveal of the House Winners!

The afternoon transformed the QEGS yard and fields into the Foundation Charity Fayre raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust and Cancer Research UK – all the foundation from year 3-12 were involved, taking part in lots of activities, including activities ran by year 9 and 10 pupils as well as inflatables. A great new addition this year was the live music played by pupils and staff of WGSF. The afternoon was a great success with pupils and staff enjoying the afternoon and celebrating the completion of another fantastic academic year.

The Foundation Charity Fayre and Housefest not only fosters a strong sense of community and friendly competition among the houses but also powerfully demonstrates our students’ unwavering commitment to supporting incredibly important charitable causes. The Foundation Charity Fayre and House Fest truly was a memorable day, celebrating both student achievement and the spirit of giving. A huge thank you to all the staff and our Year 12 students who helped out and made the day very special and memorable for all students!
