This year, our talented Year 6 students put on a truly memorable performance of Oliver with a Twist, showcasing their creativity, dedication, and teamwork.
The production journey began with an exciting drama workshop, where students explored the script and read lines aloud to help cast the characters. From there, they eagerly began rehearsing, learning their lines and stepping into their roles with enthusiasm. Mrs White worked closely with the girls, supporting them as they learned the songs and choreography, which brought vibrant energy and emotion to the show.
As rehearsals started, Miss Coe and Mrs Grundy coordinated the production, drawing on the expertise of Mr Besford to guide students with positioning, stage direction, and acting techniques. Behind the scenes, the SALT team and the IT department helped set up sound, lighting, microphones, and stunning digital backdrops that elevated the performance to a professional level. A special thanks goes to Mr Besford once again for the time, detail, and dedication he brought to every aspect of the production.
The result was a dazzling production enjoyed by the whole Wakefield Girls’ Junior Section, QEGS Year 6 boys, and proud families during both the matinee and evening performances.
A huge thank you goes out to the parents who supported their children in learning lines and creating wonderful costumes. We are also incredibly grateful to our dedicated Teaching Assistants for their creativity and hard work in producing and managing the props, as well as to FOSJH for their continued support — including organising the coffee van to provide refreshments ahead of the show.
Congratulations to all the pupils and staff involved for delivering a show full of heart, humour, and unforgettable performances!
