Exploring the Yorkshire Wolds: Year 12 A-Level Cranedale Field Trip

24th February 2025

Despite the rainy conditions, Year 12 Geography students recently went on a successful four-day field trip to the Cranedale Centre in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds. The trip provided invaluable hands-on experience in field study and data collection techniques, crucial for their A-Level studies.

Students engaged in rigorous fieldwork across a range of environments, covering both Human and Physical Geography. In Scarborough and Leeds, they investigated topics such as regeneration and rebranding, while in Dalby Forest and along the Holderness Coast, they explored coastal landforms, management strategies, water infiltration, and carbon storage in woodlands.

The students maintained excellent spirits throughout the trip, demonstrating resilience and a strong commitment to learning. The quality of their fieldwork was exceptional, and the skills they developed will be essential for their Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) project, which accounts for 20% of their final A-Level grade. This immersive experience has provided a solid foundation for their future studies and research. A huge well done to all !
