After a change in focus for our Summer sports, this year saw the addition of a new House competition for Wakefield Girls’ Junior Section. House cricket was introduced for Year 5 and 6.
The format of diamond cricket was adopted for an action packed fully inclusive experience for all students. There were calls of ‘Yes, No and Wait’ communicated between all teams throughout the competitions.
On Monday 17th June our Year 5 students batted with confidence and all Houses demonstrated brilliant teamwork skills throughout. Mackie were declared as champions, where 4’s, 6’s and communication were the order of the day.
The following week, on Tuesday 25th June, in searing heat our Year 6 students gave it their all, but it was Clayton who were to be crowned as House Cricket Champions. They batted competently and bowled and fielded their way to victory.
