On Friday 21st June we held our Senior Sports Day at the Foundation athletics track. After weeks of rain we were blessed with a day of glorious sunshine which put students and staff in high spirits!
The morning session consisted of sprint heats, where students in Years 7-10 competed against their year group to see who would represent their house in the finals later that day. The main event then took place that afternoon with a full programme of track and field finals. There were some fantastic individual performances, with Hettie T. in Year 9 breaking the 37 year old javelin record for her year group with an enormous throw of 26.45m! Some of our other outstanding athletes also competed for the Victrix Ludorum medal, which is earned by the athlete(s) in each year group with the best performance across both a track and a field event. These were awarded to:
Year 7 – Eleanor M. and Olohi I.
Year 8 – Georgia N.
Year 9 – Lilly Mae W. and Alana G.
Year 10 – Annabel M. and Abi L.
On top of these individual successes, there was of course the main prizes for the best house team for each year group, which took into account the points scored by every student’s efforts, whether they finished 1st or 8th in their events. These were awarded to the following houses:
Year 7 – Blakey
Year 8 – Clayton
Year 9 – Lee
Year 10 – Clayton
Finally, all the points from each year group were totalled to give us our overall house champions. This year, this was awarded to Clayton!
The PE Department would like to thank the staff, students and parents for all their hard work and support and for making it such a fantastic day!
