It was an emotional farewell to Year 11 on the afternoon of Tuesday 7th May, as they celebrated leaving to go on GCSE study leave at an afternoon tea party in the Jubilee Hall.
Students took a trip down memory lane, watching a carousel of photographs of themselves from over the years at WGHS, to which there were lots of oohs and aahs, voted for awards such as “student most likely to write a best selling book” and “student most likely to become prime minister.” There were cakes from Holroyd Howe, and hot chocolate drinks made by Mr & Mrs Besford. Of course, the tradition of signing shirts took place, with beautiful and decorative designs from students; then the hall was filled with laughter as we enjoyed very noisy karaoke.
I would like to wish every student in my year group my best wishes for the upcoming public exams, and my thanks for being a happy and cohesive group of young people. Good luck to everyone, and may you all find success in your future endeavours.
Mrs E Maher
Head of Year 11
