Music forms a significant aspect of life at Wakefield Girls’ and our summer concert, in collaboration with QEGS, is always much anticipated in our community. We were delighted to open our doors on 7th and 8th May and bring QE Hall to life with the sound of music as 20 of our musical groups, bands, orchestras and choirs combined their talents to deliver two breathtaking summer concerts to a packed audience.
These events were eagerly awaited auditory delights, featuring students from every grade performing a mix of crowd favourites – jazz, folk, pop and classical tunes.
Part 1 on Tuesday, 7th May, featured our QEGS Junior Choir, Brass Band, WGHS KS3 Choir, Electric Ensembles (combined), Cantabile, Horns with Hats, Funk Band, Intermediate Concert Band, Intermediate Swing Band and Senior Orchestra.
Part 2 on Wednesday, 8th May, featured our Foundation Chorus, WGHS Junior Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Senior Concert Band, Folk Band, Junior Swing Band, Mantabile, Senior String Orchestra, Swing Foundation, and a special Year 13 Leavers’ performance.
Our heartfelt gratitude to all performers, to those who handled sound, stage and lighting, and particularly to our amazing Year 13 students. For them, this marked their final show before we bid them farewell at the end of the school term.
